Faisal Islam is currently working as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Science and Engineering, University of Creative Technology, Chittagong, Bangladesh. He has joined at UCTC in 2017 after completing his B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. He selected teaching as profession because it is a profession that provides an art of living. It is not only a duty but also a moral duty to the world to create a more beautiful and peaceful world.
His undergraduate thesis was “An Evaluation of Historical and Future Climate Extremes: A Case Study of the Northern and Southern Songkhram River Basin, Thailand”. His thesis work focuses on extracting data from Global Climate Model (GCM) & Regional Climate Model (RCM), Trend analysis for Meteorological variables and projecting future climate change for these two river basins from 2021 to 2099.
During his undergraduate study, he has gone through two major internship program and both were done in two different countries. His first internship program was conducted in Sri Lanka under Road Development Authority (RDA), Sri Lanka. Another internship was done in AIT Solutions a renowned designing firm in Thailand. So, he have experience of working in multinational culture.
His research interests are within the field of hydrology and water resources including, climate change impact assessment and adaptation on the water sector, water quality and Vulnerability Index Assessment (VIA), carbon footprint assessment.
He completed his Secondary and Higher Secondary education from Chittagong Board, Bangladesh. Although he is from Barisal but he was born and brought up in Chittagong. He is very much grateful to his family members especially his father Late Wahidul Islam, mother Fazilatunness, sister Tasnuva Islam and Brother in law Nurus Shams for having belief in him. He would like to express profound gratitude to his advisor Dr. Sangam Shrestha and all of his relatives, friends and teachers who were always by his side.
