Maruful Islam

Lecturer in EEE

Maruful Islam has completed his Master of Science (Engineering) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) with a CGPA of 3.95 out of 4.00, securing 2nd position at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, in March 2025. He also obtained his Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from the same university in September 2023, achieving a CGPA of 3.69 out of 4.00 and securing 3rd position among 59 graduating students.

During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Islam developed a strong research interest in reconfigurable and multiband silicon photonics for mode division multiplexing, leading to significant contributions in the field. His research outcomes include three journal publications and three conference presentations, with two articles recently published and others under review. In recognition of his research excellence, he was awarded the prestigious ICT Fellowship (2023–2024) by the ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

At present, Mr. Maruful Islam is serving as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Creative Technology, Chittagong. Prior to this role, he worked as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of EEE at Southeast University, Dhaka.

1. ICT Fellowship:
Awarded the prestigious ‘ICT Fellowship’ 2023-2024 by the ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication, and Information Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, in appreciation of my Master’s research. I am one of the 12 research fellows (MS, MPhil, Ph.D.; 2023-2024; third round) to receive this fellowship.

2.University Merit Scholarship:
This scholarship is given to the students of the University of Chittagong by the University authority for their academic excellence. Only selected students achieve this award based on their outstanding undergrad results.

3. Best Oral Presentation:
Received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Conference on Electronics and Informatics 2024 (ICEI2024) for my work on "On Chip Multi-Band Mode Filter Using SOI Meta-materials for Mode Division Multiplexing" held on 28-29th December at Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, Dhaka.

4. Chattogram Zilla Parishad Scholarship:
Honored to be selected for the "Chattogram Zilla Parishad Scholarship" among 32 students from the University of Chittagong". This recognition is based on my academic performance during my Bachelor’s degree.

Honored to receive the Jamal Nazrul Islam Best Student Research Excellence Award (Runner-Up) in Engineering segment for 2023-2024, held at University of Chittagong on 26th February 2025
