The Credit Hour System at UCTC:
To bring the academic system to international standard, UCTC follows Open Credit Hour System (OCHS) based are required to complete successfully the total number of credit hours stipulated in the program requirements in order to graduate. The number of credit hours assigned to each course denotes the academic load that a student carries while registering for that course. Therefore, a course that carries three credit hours normally has three contact hours per week. However, there are courses, which do not tally with the contact hours or for which no credit hours have been assigned. Such courses are normally not a part of the main curriculum of the department, but of the University Requirement Courses (URC) such as language courses etc.

UCTC follows the uniform Grading System for evaluating the academic performance of the students as given below.

Grade Point Average (GPA):
The Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the number of credit hours attempted in a given semester. The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted at the University up to a particular semester. on a number of assignments, quizzes, class tests, case study and midterm examination etc that are conducted throughout the semester.

Degree Requirements:
- To earn a B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering degree, a student must complete at least 166 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a B.Sc. In Civil Engineering degree, a student must complete at least 157 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a B.Sc. In Computer Science and Engineering degree, a student must complete at least 160 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a B.Sc. In Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree, a student must complete at least 161 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, a student must complete at least 131 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (1 Year) degree, a student must complete at least 37 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 1 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) (2 Year) degree, a student must complete at least 61 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 2 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn an English Language and Literature degree, a student must complete at least 137 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies degree, a student must complete at least 141 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 4 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies (1 Year) degree, a student must complete at least 42 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 1 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies (2 Year) degree, a student must complete at least 64 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 2 years and every year has 2 semesters.
- To earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, a student must complete at least 80 credits with minimum earning of CGPA 2.50. There are 2 years and every year has 2 semesters.
