To gain practical experience beyond the classroom, the Department of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering (EEE) at the University of Creative Technology Chittagong (UCTC) organized an
industrial tour for its 6 th and 7 th semester students.
On Sunday, May 25, 2025, a team of 21 students visited the Karnafuli Hydropower Station-
Bangladesh’s only hydroelectric power plant, located in Kaptai, Rangamati. The tour aimed to
provide students with firsthand insight into electricity generation, supply systems, and
operational management beyond their academic syllabus.
The tour was led by UCCT EEE Lecturer Md. Golam Rabbani and was accompanied by fellow
faculty members Prasun Majumder, Sadri Islam, and Nishadur Rahman. During the visit,
students explored various plant units and operational facilities. They also attended interactive
technical sessions conducted by Assistant Engineer Mohammad Ahsan Habib Chowdhury and
Engineer Md. Rezaul Karim, who shared their expertise on the plant's power generation process
and system infrastructure.
Lecturer Sadri Islam noted, “The core purpose of this tour was to expand students’
understanding of industrial practices, particularly in power generation and energy management,
and to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.”
Md. Rifat Hossain, a 7 th -semester EEE student, shared his experience, saying, “The visit to
Karnafuli Hydropower Plant was an incredible learning opportunity. It allowed us to explore
practical applications of our studies and gain exposure to real-world engineering operations.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Power, our faculty, and the university
administration.”
The visit concluded with a brief discussion where both UCTC representatives and plant officials
expressed mutual interest in continued collaboration and emphasized the shared goal of
contributing to national development.
